Population, housing, income and economic census data.  Use theAmerican Fact Finder, a new interactive database, to easily create customized tables about the place or industry you are researching.  Use the ZIP Code Business Patterns utility to assess the business activity within a particular zip code (data include total number of establishments and number of establishments by employment-size classes by detailed industry). Numbers of firms in one zip code can be compared to other zip codes. Historical population and economic census information at the state and county level is available at the United States Historical Census Data Browser, a joint project of the University of Virginia and the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research.  This project covers the years 1790 through 1970.
